'We first came to ride in Portugal during 2024. We had ridden enduro all over the UK (mainly in the rain), Europe and Africa (mainly in the searing temperatures of Romania and Morocco).
But it was the Winter climate and freedom to explore that instantly blew us away in Portugal. It was soon after that we decided here would be the perfect home for our enduro base!"
Although Freddie and Jarrod both came to enduro in very different ways (Freddie from adventure bikes and Jarrod from the world of MX) they both agree enduro offers the ideal combination of adrenaline and exploration.
"It was only when I packed up my dreary 9-5 London job that the world of adventure motorcycling really opened up to me. It was January 2017 and I had one goal, get as far away from London as I could. I loaded up my old commuter and headed for a 6 week holiday to Portugal and Morocco, to enjoy some winter sun.
Little did I know that first trip would see me away for over a year as I rode the length of Africa to Cape Town. Since then I have ridden in over 45 countries spanning both North and South America.
Since my return in 2020 I have dedicated myself to sharing my love for travel and the freedom that comes from life on two wheels."
Freddie contributes to various magazines and also works as a professional guide rider for major manufacturers on press events around the world. He is a qualified medical first responder.
"I've been fortunate enough to ride enduro my entire life. It all started at age four with my first bike, a CRF50. I'd ride it every day after school until it ran out of petrol. Then I'd fill it back up and head out in the dark.
I quickly graduated to racing and really found my feet on the MX tracks across the UK and Europe.
I love the freedom enduro gives you, especially in a place like Portugal where everyday is a new route. There's something very exciting about that.
Life has a way of coming full circle, and now, I have a CRF50 here in Portugal that my kids enjoy riding. Teaching riders of all levels has become one of my greatest passions."
Jarrod has worked all over the world, primarily in the USA, as a advanced motorcycle and MX instructor.
Meet Bailey and Sage, they are great characters and love attention. So if you have time pop down and and give them some of their favourite treats.
Our chickens and ducks are totally free-range and have to be kept in check by our resident guard dogs - Kiki, Bella and Mila.
We have lemon, apples and orange tress and as well as a large permaculture garden that supplies all of our fruit and veg.
Many people have learned basic skills on this Honda CRF5s. If you aren't confident its a good place to start.
All of our dogs are super friendly, but if you can't find your boots Mila might have something to do with it.
We try to prepare all the meals ourselves, but sometimes you have to know when you're beaten. The peri-peri chicken here is something else.
